Where it is
On the south bank near Bugungu Gate, the southern entrance used by traffic coming up from Hoima. The top-of-the-falls trailhead is a reasonable drive, Budongo Forest is within reach for a morning chimpanzee trek, and the Paraa ferry – the crossing to the northern game tracks – is about 30 to 40 minutes away. It is a practical base for an itinerary that wants both banks.
The setting
The lodge is low-density by design, with cottages and tents tucked into 30 acres of woodland and grassland running down toward the Nile. Warthog, bushbuck and a long list of birds are regulars in the grounds, and the raised central lounge and the room verandas are positioned for the view. There is a swimming pool and a fire pit, and the whole place has an unpretentious, well-run feel.

Three categories on one site. The en-suite thatched cottages are the most comfortable, with a proper bathroom, a wide veranda and a river or garden view. The furnished safari tents sit on raised decks with en-suite or shared bathrooms depending on the tent. The budget tents are simple twin-share canvas with shared ablutions. All beds have mosquito nets; power is solar with generator support.
Facilities and food
A central bar and restaurant serving a set three-course dinner with choices and full dietary flexibility, a swimming pool, a fire pit, a small shop and slow Wi-Fi in the main area.
