Where it is
On the north bank, within easy reach of the Paraa area and the start of the Buligi, Victoria and Albert game-drive tracks, and close to the jetty for the launch cruise. The top of the falls is a ferry crossing and a short drive away on the south bank. Being on the north bank means an early game drive does not require an early ferry crossing, which is a real advantage for the cats.
The setting
The camp is small and carefully placed for privacy and for the view, with a central mess tent and lounge done in period style, a fire pit for the evenings, and the tents spread out with space between them. The atmosphere is the point – unhurried, old-fashioned in the best sense, with drinks by the fire and dinner under canvas. Wildlife moves through the surrounding bush and the birding is good.
Rooms
A small number of spacious walk-in canvas suites on raised decks, each with a proper bed under a mosquito net, an en-suite bathroom with a safari-style shower, campaign-style furniture, and a private veranda. The suites are large and well appointed, with the detail – the lamps, the trunks, the writing desk – done to a high standard. Power is generator and solar; there is no air-conditioning.
Facilities and food
A mess tent for meals – typically a set three-course dinner with choices and full dietary flexibility – a lounge and bar, and a fire pit. Facilities are deliberately limited: this is a camp, not a resort, so there is no pool or spa. Wi-Fi is available but slow. The camp arranges all park activities and can lay on a private bush dinner or a sundowner.
